Parish Programme

Parish Office: Mondays off, Tues. and Wed. 11am - 3pm, or by appointment

Daily Masses: Monday – Saturday: 10am

Confession: 10:30am on Saturdays or by appointment

Baptism: 3rd Saturday of the Month at 11am

Marriage: At least 6 months prior notice required

The schedule for Masses is 10am and 6.30pm on Saturdays and 8am, 10am, 12pm and 5.30pm on Sundays. During the weekdays, the Church will be opened at 9.45am and Mass holds at 10am.

• October Devotion: The month of October is a special period when we join Mary the mother of Jesus and our mother to meditate on the mysteries of our faith. We invite all parishioners to join in praying the Rosary after the 10am Mass during Weekdays. Also, everyone is encouraged to pray the Rosary at home as families or individuals during this month of devotion.

• Parish Feast Day: The celebration will be next week Sunday 11th October at 12noon. There will be a get-together immediately afterwards in the Parish Hall. It will be an opportunity to celebrate the gift of our faith, ethnic diversity and oneness. Parishioners are encouraged to donate food items, disposable cutlery and drinks for the get-together. Please use the sheets of papers at the back to indicate what you will like to bring to support the celebration. Please write your name, contact and items in the lists provided at the back of the Church. Thank you for your generosity, May God bless and reward you abundantly. Please note there will be no 5:30pm Mass next week.

• Infant Baptism: For those who have registered, the next infant Baptism will take place on Saturday 17th October at 11:30am. The session for Parents and Godparents will begin at 11am in the Church. Please note, parents who want their children baptized should arrange an initial meeting with Fr Vincent during office hours.

• First Holy Communion: The programme begins next week Saturday 10th October at 11:50am with a meeting for all parents and children in the Parish Hall. This is for children aged 7 or above who want to begin the catechism programme for First Holy Communion.

  Confirmation: Also begins next week Saturday 10th October at 11:50am in the Hall. This is for children aged 12 or above who want to begin the catechism programme for Confirmation.

  Please Note: Mass and Sessions are compulsory for all children on the programme and it is mandatory for a parent to attend.

• RCIA 2026/2027 Parish Adult Catechetical Programme: Continues every Wednesday; the next session will hold on 7th October at 6:30pm in the Annunciation Hall. For those who wish to be confirmed or other adults from other faiths and Christian denominations seeking to be in full communion with the Catholic Church. Inquirers and all interested persons should meet the priests and/or contact the parish office on Tuesday and Wednesday between 11am and 3pm for the forms.

• Parish Synodal Meeting: From the third Sunday of October, Fr Vincent will be having Parish Synodal Meeting with the various groups of the Parish Faith Community. All are encouraged to attend.

• Annual Mass Count: Our annual Mass count at all the Masses will take place until the Weekend of 17th - 18th October 2026.

• Thursday Prayer Meeting: Part of our New year resolution is to pray more than ever for ourselves and for our world. Therefore, we are all encouraged to come and pray every week Thursday at 7pm in the Hall. Everyone is invited and welcome for Bible reflection and intercessory prayers. Please attend and invite someone.

• Legion of Mary: Meets every Tuesday at 6:30pm in the Annunciation room. If you are inspired to work and walk with the Blessed Virgin Mary, please join them. The Parish encourages everyone to join.

• Adults Catechesis: The Neocatecumente group invite you to their adult catechesis on Mondays and Thursdays from 8pm to 9pm, beginning tomorrow Monday 5th October and finishing in 8 weeks in the Annunciation room. All are invited and welcome.

• School Reference: Parents whose children will require school reference for school applications should pick the initial application form for School Reference from the Parish office. Please obtain yours, it is important that this form is obtained before the month of September. You will also be required to bring same with your child’s application form.

• Marriage Papers/Preparation: All couples planning to get married in the UK or abroad are required to notify the Parish Priest at least 6 (Six) months before the date of the wedding. We will not undertake to process marriage papers that are less than this required time. It is advisable that couples demonstrate that they are active in the parish.

• Mass Booking: The Holy Mass is Our Lord’s perfect prayer, our greatest and most efficacious prayer. In offering it we unite ourselves and our intentions with the Lord in praise, in thanksgiving, and in petition. If you wish to have a Holy Mass offered for any intentions of yours, please contact the parish office or complete the brown Mass Intention envelope allocated at the back of the Church or give it to the priest. Kindly fill-in the required details INCLUDING YOUR PHONE NUMBER, while also indicating your prayer intention for the Mass. The diocese encourages a voluntary offering of £10 for each Mass intention. Parishioners are encouraged to book Masses in prayer and thanksgiving to God for their birthdays, anniversaries, the sick, remembrance and other intentions.

• Toilets: Parishioners are encouraged to use the toilet facility in the Hall whenever the regular toilets are not functioning properly.

• New to the Parish: New parishioners’ registration form is at the back of the Church. Please fill and return to the priests/presbytery. We welcome you all.

• Parish Mass Book: Dear Parishioners, please handle the Mass books with respect. Refrain from removing or discarding bookmarks. Let us care for our liturgical materials with reverence! Parish Priest.

• Parish Repository: Has a good selection of cards/diaries/calendars, sacramentals etc. Please visit and patronise the repository after Mass.

• Safeguarding / Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS): All volunteers have been sent an online DBS application form (Please check your spam emails). Please complete it as a matter of urgency and sent it off, if any issues, please contact the Parish office for more information or DBS office on 0207 261 1606.

• Gift Aid Envelopes: Please collect yours in the parish office during opening hours, Tuesday and Wednesday 11am to 3pm, from Elizangela Lopes the Parish Secretary and Gift Aid Co-ordinator.

• Southwark Directory: The 2026 Catholic Directory (£7.50 each) and Art Calendar are now available for sale in the Repository.

• Decorum at Mass: Parishioners are reminded to SWITCH OFF or put their mobile phones in SILENCE before Mass and other liturgically activities.

• Pray for the Sick: We remember all sick and housebound parishioners in our prayers. Fr Vincent is available to visit them. Please do contact the Parish office.

• Appeal: We appeal for parishioners to join the Choir and also the board of Lecture. Please contact the Parish office and/or Parish Priest for more information.

• New Gift Aid Envelopes: Please meet our Parish Secretary and Gift Aid co-ordinator Elizangela Lopes at the parish office on Tuesday or Wednesday from 11am to 3pm or by appointment to collect your new envelopes if you haven’t done so. • Ghanaian Association: The Ghanaian Association in the Parish invite every Ghanaian to their meetings held every first Sunday of the month at 13:30pm in the parish hall. Please contact the secretary on 0795008233.  You’re welcome.

• Nigerian Community: Meet every second Sunday of the month after the 12noon Mass in the Hall. All registered and interested members are welcomed

• Sacristans Team: A very big thank you to all sacristans who have been serving Our Lady of the Rosary, Brixton Church all these years and for making our parish outstanding. It has been a huge pleasure and a great honour of collaboration and unification of efforts and talents. Thank you all. Going forward please note the new team: The Parish Priest is the Head/Chief Sacristan of the Parish.

• Called to Bear Fruit Consultation Response Published: Thank you to the thousands of people who took part in the Called to Bear Fruit consultation. We are grateful to you all for sharing so openly your hopes for the life of the Church in our Archdiocese. The consultation response, which includes 15 actions points for renewal, is available at rcaos.org.uk/calledtobearfruit and hardcopies will be sent to every parish. The consultation revealed a burning desire within our parishes to be missionary and evangelising disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, who work together to help people encounter His love. So, as we move forward on the next steps together, let’s build up the Body of Christ in Southwark with faith and confidence, becoming ever more a community of missionary disciples filled with joy and hope for the future. As an Archdiocese, we will continue to discern the process of renewal, and further updates will be provided in due course.

• Come Home: Is an initiative currently being promoted by the Agency for Evangelisation and Catechesis which seeks to welcome people back to Church this Season and extend a warm invitation to those who wish to Come Home. • Card Reader and Donation QR Code: The parish has installed a card reader as alternative means of Weekly Offerings and General Donations at the back of the church. Also, we have the QR (Quick Response) code for Weekly offering and donation on the notice board. Thank you for your generous donations.
